The first entry in the revival of The French Defense blog

I had a blog called The French Defense once before but I stopped posting to it and it disappeared. The French Defense is a chess opening. After White plays 1. e4, black responds 1... e6, thereby initiating The French Defense. I like to play this opening not only because it is a very sound opening, but also because it was named after me, Don French. Or some French guy who had success playing it in the 14th century, I forget which.

But this blog is not about chess. It is about photography and panoramas and gadgets that help photographers to make panoramas. It is a very self-serving blog because I designed a gadget that helps photographers make panoramas and I am preparing to market it to the world. I have formed a new company to make and sell these gadgets and it is called The Gadget Works. I own the domain name www.TheGadgetWorks.com but as of this moment it has no content other than my logo. But that will change in the coming weeks, and I will chronicle its developments in this blog. So, stay tuned!

I will try to add an original photography to each of my blog posts. I took the one for today at my sister's cabin in Northern Minnesota when I visited in October.
